World Series fever has swept Japan, a country that is said to love baseball even more than the home of baseball, the United States.

The people of Oshu, where Ohtani grew up through high school, gathered by the hundreds at the city hall and cultural center to show their support for the Dodgers and New York Yankees in Game 3 of the Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series.

Oshu isn't the only city in Japan experiencing World Series fever.

The day before, ESPN reported that Games 1 and 2 of the World Series averaged 15.15 million viewers in Japan.

Game 1, which featured Freddie Freeman's game-winning home run, averaged 14.4 million viewers, and Game 2, which featured Yoshinobu Yamamoto of the Dodgers alongside Ohtani, jumped to 15.9 million viewers.

These Japanese audiences are larger than in the United States, where the World Series is being held.
